Stitchy Finish, Scrapbooking Finish, etc!

WHEW! The past couple weeks have been a whirlwind. Ever feel like you're just running in place, going nowhere fast, but there's so much happening around you? That's the past couple weeks for me. Getting my son through the end of school and wondering how I now have a 13 year old boy. Boggles the mind. That was last week, then we had the party, then he had dentist appointment, then he had a small surgical procedure on his face (I know!!). Had to have a small growth removed from his face and will have some follow up laser procedures. OY VEY. I'm tired.

I told you I finished With my Needle, and indeed I have. Here it is. These are outdoor pics so I'm sorry 'bout the shadows !

Oh, I also wanted to post my recent gift to my sister. She also has a June birthday and I wanted to give her something special, so I made her an altered tin album of some pics of us as kids and a couple recent ones too. She cried, which as you all know means.......SCORE!!!! :P She's the beautiful blonde!

Don't mind the little paws in the upper right hand corner. :p

I really love scrapbooking too. This little album uses a digital template from Shabby Miss Jen, which, if you are into digi scrapping at all, is a way awesome site. I just downloaded some Halloweenie type kits. FUN!

Now, what to stitch next? I thought maybe this. It's cute, right? Shepherd's Bush The Goblins. I can't resist a goblin! :

And no one need remind me I still have Halloween Fairy to finish up. Maybe I'll take this opportunity to work on her too. She's crying out to be finished before Halloween this year, after the fiber dye lot disaster of last year, lol. My goodness.

A very sweet lady, Joanne, was visiting my blog and saw I wanted Firefly Fairies:

So what did she do? She sent her copy to me! Joanne, you are an awesome lady and I can't wait to see your Cricket Boo Sheep progress. I think Joanne needs a blog too, in order to show it off. I don't believe she has one, but if you do Joanne, please let me know!! You are too sweet.

Today I scored my copy of Adam Lambert's Rolling Stone cover. I have to wait until all is quiet to read it. I'm so excited he's going to have an album out later this fall. Seriously, Adam fans, how cool is this cover?

And with that, I think I'll sign off before I blog your ear off (or your eyes out?). Have a great night and I'm looking SO forward to getting back to reading posts and see all the gorgeous things you're working on. Thanks for the b-day wishes for my boy. So sweet of you all! You guys really make my day.

  1. Oh Tammy, how cute is your BBD finish! Love it! The pictures look great. I love the new start! It should be a fun stitch. I have that one somewhere in that stash of stuff! I love Halloween!

Your photo album is adorable! No wonder your sister reached misty red eyes with this one. What a cleaver idea. I love to scrapbook too, as long as it's small projects like this!

Enjoy your Rolling Stone mag! Happy birthday to your 13 year old. Yikes, I have one almost that age as well. Have a great weekend!

  2. Yes, it seems like spring/summer time is even busier than ever. Your BBD finish looks great!

I love your scrapbooking gem! Very very nice! I haven't gotten into it (am afraid to get hooked on another hobby!) but YGG!

  3. "She's the beautiful blonde!" and you're the beautiful brunette! ;) Great album! I'm inspired! Now if I could just get everything unpacked...

Once again, hope the birthday surprise was fun!

  5. Love your finished BBD piece! And, what a great gift you made, too, for your sister. Sorry to be a Chris fan! LOL But, can we agree that Adam will make a good stage presence? And, I know we can always agree on stitching!! :) Loved your blog!

  9. Wow, so much going on in your life, so much going on in your post! What to comment on first? I'll work my way down...

Your BBD finish looks amazing!! Well done! Nice to get another fnish out the way.

What a sweet, sentimental gift for your sister. No wonder she cried. I'd love to do scrapbooking but my time and money is tied up with cross stitching, that I don't think I could support two major hobbies ! :)

Will look forward to see how your Goblins turns out. Surprise, surprise, I have this one in my stash too!

Firefly Fairies looks gorgeous, but so much work with it. Something to sink your teeth into.

Finally, I'll let you drool over your magazine - enjoy!

  10. Tammy, your new finish looks terrific. I love this piece and you stitched it so beautifully.
Ohhh, and how sweet is that gift for your sister. I can understand why she was in tears, it's just a wonderful idea to make this for her.

  11. Your BBD is gorgeous!! I am so impressed with your scrapped tin, too. What an amazing gift. If Dell ever delivers my laptop (don't get me started!), I really would love to get into digital scrapping. I used to do the paper scrapping but don't really have the space to drag it all out & leave it, and half the time was spent pulling it out & putting it away.

    Have a great weekend!

  12. What a beautiful finish! I've been enjoying watching your progress on this one. A belated happy birthday to your son. I hope he is recovering well from his surgery. The gift for your sister is beautiful. She is the beautiful blonde and you....the sultry brunette! I love the little paws in the corner of the piccie. The goblin is a real cutie....I may have to use it as the "reason" to visit my LNS soon. ;) That was really lovely of Joanne to pass her copy onto you...I agree she does need a blog if she doesn't have one already. I saw a few seconds of Adam Lambert on a morning show when he was in American Idol...singing with KISS. He has a real presence doesn't he? As for not winning....I think he will be in a much better position than the winner career wise...as he will not be tied up with contracts to American Idol....

  13. Oh my you have been busy!
What a beautiful BBD finish. It looks lovely, congratulations, I just adore the colour of that linen.
The album you made for your sis is so adorable, and isn't it great when people cry when you give them something you have made yourself (in a good 'happy tears' way of course!).
Goblins looks cool and suitably 'Witchy' and how nice of Joanne to pass on the chart. Stitchers are such a generous bunch.
Here's hoping that your time starts to pass a little more slowly now.
    Have a great weekend x

If she's the beautiful blond then you're the lovely brunette :o) Happy belated birthday to your son. Where does the time go?? Mine turned 17 last month & it seems like just yesterday I was fixing bottles & changing diapers.

Yes, Adam is definitely a hottie on that cover. I wished he would have been chosen as the "Idol" this past season. Your sister is lucky to have such a creative sister as you are to her.
