BBD With My Needle Update and SAL

Here's a bit of slow progress on my BlackBird Designs, With My Needle. I've been working this with another project so it's going slow but sure. You can't tell too much, but it's being stitched on a very sweet yellow fabby called "Antique Cotton" by R&R. I love it.

And I love working with the overdyed flosses here too, but you know how when you do it like you're *supposed* to (by crossing each stitch as you go) and you go back the other way---the stitches don't quite look like the first row you did? AAAAAAGGGH, my stitching o.c.d. kicks in and I have to force myself to just do it and move on.

Here's my contribution to this months Totally Useless SAL. Mine is an ugly Vlasic pickle jar, so I never show the lid! Hahahaha.

And do you know, I haven't done an ornie for my challenge group this month....either. Lazy? Procrastinator? Sure. I just have to live with it. You won't catch me signing up for round robins or exchanges or anything else where I have to do something on a certain date. Ya'll would be sorely dissapointed if I did. :p

If you're looking for an awesome fabby giveaway, please head over to see Daffycat! They're gorgeous!

Just lovely progress, Tammy! And btw, on those overdyed fibers, you don't have to stitch with them that way. Try what makes you happy with the results, experiment, trust me, it is fun!

Fabulous colors! Great progress, too. I took a class years ago with HIHN's Cecilia Turner, just when GAST was getting popular, and I asked her about the crossing every thread as I go with overdyeds; I wanted to see what she did. She said that life is too short to do that & she just stitches as normal, ///// and then \\\\\. I figured that if a designer does that, then I will do the same! I do cross each stitch as I go if the thread is particularly variegated, but for just a little change in color, I do what I prefer--the ///\\\!

I know what you mean about the second row not being the same as the first. I have frogged loads of stuff because I didn't like the way the sitches looked. Hoverver I tried some thing different and it seemed to work. Here goes - When doing a row left to right First cross stitch top right to bottom left then bottom right to top left next stitch top right to bottom left etc. On the back you sould have two parallel lines.

That is a lovely progress already! Every stitch you make is a stitch less you have to make. I'm looking forward to see the progress on this project.

Nice progress, Tam. I didn't make it to the store. I wanted to get some fabric for those mermaid silhouettes to put in the master bathroom.

I'm feeling lazy! But that's ok cuz I need a few lazy days!

Just found your blog and I love it. I hear what you're saying about the overdyed threads. Sometimes I forget to cross and I go and stitch across the row and then do the next row one at a time. Sheesh! Makes life difficult sometimes. Love your new start and the fabric you're using for it!

It's funny because the jar looks amazing with the close up ! lol

The floss colors seem very nice !!!

I never show my TUSAL lid either because it's a Peter Pan peanut butter container and the bright red lid would give it away. I get enough ribbing from the kids about that!

Nice progress and this design is fabulous, I like your taste
A pickle jar huh? I would have never known ,lol It must be the ort's that throw it off.
No stalking the mailman now you hear, lol
