We're finishing up the packing and heading out tomorrow morning-early. I've chosen this for my beach stitching since it's relaxing and simple and small. I can't believe I had to run to JoAnn's and get a few floss colors I was missing:
This is the last in the series of four I have to do, and I just love these! I did the first one waaaaay back in 1995! I had to put Goblin away for a bit--had a hard time starting that first row of specialty stitching. I don't know if it's my eyes, or my counting skills, lol, or perhaps a bit of both. I'll try to get that done soon, but I just can't mess with it now. Maybe not later either-just a warning! I don't know why my summer has seemed so hectic thus far. I feel a bit out of control, like nothing is as organized as I need it to be. Maybe summer part 2 will be a little more laid back with more time for stitching and other fun things. We'll see!
I just can't wait to get to the beach. The ocean makes me feel revitalized, energized, and relaxed all at the same time. Walking on the boardwalk with the warm wind blowing around me as we just walk and decide what to do next...nothing beats it. Not having to worry with what time it is, doctor appointments, grocery shopping, etc. ( generic web photo below!)
We've always wanted to move to the shore someday. I spoke to a woman in a Fenwick restaurant one time. She worked as a court transcriptionist and waitressed part time as well. She had children too. I told her how people always tell me, "Oh, you'd get so used to the beach, you wouldn't enjoy it anymore than where you live right now." She said to me, "that's bull---it's every bit as fun as you think it would be!" With that, she told me how fabulous the schools were and how much she loved it there. Every single year, we entertain that fantasy of moving to the beach. It really gives me the incentive to work hard and continue to pay off our debt and not incur any more. You never know what dreams you can make come true for yourself. I'd have to move my mom and sister with me of course! I just love looking at all the homes and thinking "Well, they did it--so can we!".
I've neglected the old google reader for quite some time, and I need to post to all your beautiful blogs. I also need to email some tin album instructions to someone-I have not forgotten! When I get back I can't wait to see what you all have been up to! Take care and enjoy your week. I'll be back soon with some stash updates I'm sure and hopefully a suntan!
Advent day 21
Hi ~ I live in Maryland & about an hour from Ocean City. I love it there. It's perfect by living near the shore but not that close. LOL You've got great blog. I love your title. ~ Dawn ~
ReplyDeleteEnjoy your holiday time and re-charge your batteries. Be careful with google reader - you'll lose a day at least!
ReplyDeletehave fun!
I know it's not the ocean but I used to live real close to Lake Michigan (our own little ocean) and let me tell you....I KICK myself for moving away. I loved it there. Beautiful. :) Enjoy your trip!
ReplyDeleteI live at the beach (9 blocks in) and I do feel very lucky. Although I work full-time I try to leave early on Fridays in the summer to hit the beach for a little while with my daughter and we walk the boardwalk at night after dinner when we can. Sometimes I like to just sit on the boardwalk and watch the waves. Have a great and relaxing vacation at the shore and come back to us with good progress on that fairy!
ReplyDeleteOh, I so love the Ocean, Tammy and like you long to live there one day! I think I could sit and listen and watch the waves all day long. I love lighthouses as well and my fave time of year at the beach is winter, autumn and early spring... when it's not too hot! My ideal beach area is Cape Hatteras or the Outer Banks... what joy! Or somewhere in Maine or back in Scotland... it would always be cool there and not too hot. :)
ReplyDeleteI love the PS faerys and what a perfect choice to take with you! I really must remember to order them so I can get busy stitching them. They are on my Wish List but you know with something new constantly coming out all the time, it's difficult to buy it all! :) I can't wait to see your progress!
And what lovely stitchy projects you've been working on whilst I've been MIA... so many lovelies! :)
Safe journeys, Hun and have loads of fun... and pick up a few shells for me! :)
Lots of love, hugs and blessings in stitches...
Have a wonderful time.
ReplyDeleteOh wow, I'm so jealous. We used to go there as a kid. My father loved the ocean and water in general (probably why we lived in the Great Lakes State). I finally got the DH and kids over that way a couple years ago and they love it. I would spent as much time as possible there if I could afford.
ReplyDeleteHope that you have a wonderful time!
I only have cleaning fairie left to do...my least favorite LOL. I wanted to do them all in the same fabric but ran out, so I have to try to find a match someday. I did my first one probably about 13 yrs. ago. Yikes!
ReplyDeleteHave a great vacation! Wish I was going to the beach. Instead we are going to New Jersey and I don't mean the Jersey shore.
I also love the ocean and have spent many summers at Virginia Beach not only when I was young but with my boys as well. No matter where you are, being by the ocean is fabulous! Enjoy your time away and I'm looking forward to seeing that cute little PS finish when you get back!
ReplyDeleteGodspeed!
Have a wonderful vacation!
ReplyDeleteLove the picture of the "Boardwalk" sign. It's beautiful!
I hope you have a wonderful vacation! Nothing better than being by the beach. I love the beach so much I have it tattooed to my wall, "Life is better by the beach", and your darn right I believe it! Maybe someday we will end up by the beach too. At least I can take vacations there, and dream about it with you!
ReplyDeleteHave a fun and safe time.
Hope you have some time to stitch. I will miss you!!!!
Have fun! May the traffic be light (you and I will be heading in opposite directions tomorrow--I'm headed to the Fredericksburg Farmers Market.) Now here's a funny thing: I grew up at the beach and while I don't really dislike it, I'd much rather vacation in the mountains, by a stream or a lake. As for living at the beach (my parents live a city block from the water)? No, thanks....the sticky salt on everything, the high cost of groceries, the huge influx of tourists, the super high cost of flood insurance, the low-wage, low-prospect jobs....nah. LOL! We're all different, thank goodness!
ReplyDeleteHave a wonderful holiday. Strolling by the beach is heavenly in the summer evenings. That is a very cute fairy and snail you have to take with you.
ReplyDeleteHave a lovely holiday!! What a nice pictures. It must be such a nice place there. Would like to walk there too ;)
ReplyDeleteLove the stitching pattern!!
Enjoy your time away! I love holidays at the beach too. So relaxing and warm.
ReplyDeleteI'm green with envy - have only gotten to see the ocean 2 times in my life but it's sooo calming - loved it. Hope you have a great time stitching & sunning :o)
ReplyDeleteThought I'd leave another comment because I came across a pattern that reminded me of your love for witches. Mystic Stitch just came out with Hex of the Wicked Witch. You can also see it on the ABC Stitch Therapy site.
ReplyDeleteHope your vacation is going great!
Hope you have a great vacation! Don't get sunburned! Have fun!
ReplyDeleteDonna
Enjoy! Rejuvinate! Restore! Have a super week! :)
ReplyDeleteEnjoy your vacation! I have always said that if you always want to go to the same place on vacation, you should probably be living there :)
ReplyDeleteHopefully you'll feel like pulling Goblin back out again soon. Sometimes taking a step back from a frustrating section gives you a new perspective on it!
OH what an enjoyable time, I know you will have, Tammy!! Enjoy to the max! Will look forward to pics and details, upon your return and of course some wonderful stitching pics!
ReplyDeleteHave a wonderful holiday at the beach! I'm looking forward to all your progress/finish pictures when you return, not to mention all those wonderful shots of you all hard at play! :)
ReplyDeleteSheesh, I miss you...
ReplyDeleteI am soooo jealous. I would give anything to have a vacation at the beach. It's been way too long and this Pisces needs the ocean. Have a wonderful time.
ReplyDeleteHave a fabulous time at the beach! I can't wait to see if you've picked up any new stash at Salty Yarns or Sea Needles. ;)
ReplyDeleteWhat a fun new start, the little prairie faries are so cute. Looking forward to seeing your progress when you get back from the beach. Have a wonderful time.
ReplyDeleteSue
